A Note From Our Founder

My grandmother once said: cheers to strong women — may we be them, may we raise them.  I got to New York City Ballet at 16 and after thinking I had achieved everything I had ever wanted — I soon entered the darkest period of my life. Plagued with injuries and food sensitivities, I couldn’t find my way. But something inside me always came back to that quote. 

After spending many years on the sidelines, I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue condition that made me understand, deeply and personally, what the body is actually made of. It’s something I rarely talked about, but it’s deeply shaped how I train and what I put into my body. As I learned more about my own condition, I became increasingly curious about the food system and science — eventually leading me down a long path of study, including courses at Stanford and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. What started as my greatest weakness became my greatest strength: a reason to question the status quo, stay open, and do things differently.  My journey led me to one answer, every time: strength. Not as a goal — as a foundation.
